  • Training of HIV/AIDS Community and Home Based Care Providers in NW Zone organized in collaboration with CiSHAN, Abuja at Katsina

PROJECTS

  • Implemented the WORLD BANK/AGILE project community mobilization component in 6 LGAs (Karaye, Rogo, Madobi, Bebeji, Kiru, Warawa) of Kano State

  • Survey, Analysis and Reporting on “Evaluation of the Efficacy of Radio Drama as a means to strengthen the capacity of Small Holder Farmers to adapt to climate change” including Formation of Radio Listeners’ Club in 6 states (Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Bauchi and Borno) sponsored by African Radio Drama Association (ARDA) in collaboration with ICRD, University of Guelph, Canada (February to November, 2010)
  • Survey, Analysis and Reporting on “Group dynamics and strategy for strengthening Community Based Organisations under the Sudan Savanna Task Force of the Kano- Katsina- Maradi (KKM) pilot learning site of the Sub-Saharan Africa Challenge Programme”; sponsored by The International Institute Of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) (Dec.2009 – 2010)

MOBILISATION AND ADVOCACY

Prof Shitu Sharing about and appreciating community

  • Mobilised over 21,175 community on positive behaviours towards girls education including support for girls’ enrolment, retention, transition and completion of secondary education
  • Mobilized over 35,900 girls in 6 LGAs of Kano state on the value of girls education
  • Mobilised 400 women to appreciate the value of education
  • Sensitized SBMC and CBMC members on community engagement on school effectiveness
  • Mobilized 1600 youths to participate in peace building and prevention of violent behaviours
  • Worked with student groups to facilitate the formation of community coalition in Batsari, LGA Katsina State
  • Awareness campaign to adolescents on Reproductive Health and STIs/HIV/AIDS in Kumbotso, Rogo,Ungogo, Madobi, Kiru, Karaye and Bebeji LGAs of Kano State and Kazaure LGA of Jigawa State.
  • Undertook Community mobilization for polio immunization in 5 Local Government areas: Kumbotso, Rogo, Gwale, D/Kudu, and Madobi LGAs.
  •  Sensitized over 20 Male Motivators (MM)
  • Undertook Advocacy visits to traditional and religious leaders on School Enrolment especially for Girls
  • Mobilized 24 Youths on dangers of drug Abuse.
  • Supported PTAs of 2 Schools in Kumbotso LGEA.
  • Team leader involved with training of Local Health Committees in Kano and Jigawa States
  • Team Leader and other team members involved with Safe Motherhood and Demand Plus Initiatives.
  • Mobilized CBOs to undertake tree planting campaigns in two LGAs.
  • Mobilize women and men to form Radio Listeners Clubs on Agriculture and climate change
  • Organized youth groups to access fertilizer  and farm inputs
